Principal — Old version



Phillitia Charlton is the Chief Academic Officer at Dayton Business Technology High School. She has committed ten years of her professional career to education in the roles of network technician, instructor, department director and most recently Principal and CAO. Her dedicationto the community began with Partners in Success at Wesley Community Center as a youthcounselor at the age of twelve. She has continued to pursue her passion for serving her community by chairing the National Urban League Young Professional’s 2005 National Day ofService, a program designed to educate youth through financial empowerment. Phillitia’s display of leadership and strong work ethic allowed her to become the Vice President of The Dayton Urban League Young Professionals in 2007Her tenacity, dedication, and capacity for growth allowed her to assumthe role of the president in 2008.


Phillitia has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Alabama State University, a Project Management Master of Arts and Business Communication Degree from Jones International University, and a five-year professional license in Business Management Instructionfrom The Ohio Department of Education.


Phillitia’s pledge to service proudly includes serving as a Board Member of the Dayton Urban Leaguea grant writer and volunteer of Action Youth Outreacha spoken word artist, life coach and co-founder of More Than Just… which is a private partnership whose purpose is to uplift, encourage, stimulate and provoke its audiences toward self-introspection, healing, inspiration and life excellence through various artistic mediums. She also serves as a member of The Project Management Institute and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.


While operating in the role of Vice President and Program Chair of the Dayton Urban League Young Professionals, under Phillitia’s direction, the chapter was awarded the “2008 Central Region Chapter of Excellence Award.” The National Urban League Young Professionals present this honor to chapters who play a significant role in “The Movement” by producing outstanding,impactful programs for their community.


Phillitia is a proud wife of nine years to her wonderful husband Eric Charlton, CAT Scan Technologist at Good Samaritan Hospital. She is also an equally proud mother to son Eryk Charlton (8) and daughter Dy’Oni Charlton (10).
